The society has about 500 members almost equally divided between those of British and Pakistani origin. New members are always welcome, not only those with families and historic ties to Pakistan, or members of the Pakistan community in the UK, also those who do business with Pakistan, who visit Pakistan for tourism or adventure (or would like to do so), or are interested in Pakistan’s society and culture. Ordinary and Associate members pay an Annual subscription, which is due on the 1st of January each year. Corporate Membership can be arranged.
The Pakistan Society is an independent organisation which has good relations with the Pakistan and British Governments, and links with other Commonwealth, Asian and Pakistan-orientated organisations in the United Kingdom.
Activities
The main social event of each year is a Gala Dinner at Lincoln’s Inn, where in 1896 the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah was called to the Bar. This is usually in June. Starting from Autumn until Spring there is a programme of monthly lectures held in the evening, on varying topics concerned with Pakistan. These are open to all members and their guests. No tickets or bookings are normally required, sometimes there is an opportunity to arrange additional ad-hoc talks and special events for which a small charge may be made. Information will be circulated to members regarding venues once details are confirmed.
